Welcome back to our final blog post in a series called Adapting Your Home to Its Selling Season. In today’s post, we are going to cover the final season of the year, winter. Many assume that winter is the worst time for selling a home. While it can be true to an extent, there are several benefits to putting your home on the market during this time. Less competition is one of those benefits. In addition, those looking for homes to buy in winter are always very serious about finding a home ASAP for one reason or another.
Even if you’re ready to get your home sold now, waiting until winter might be better depending on the various features your home has.
Winter Selling Tips | North Hills Raleigh Real Estate
Stage the Fireplace – Many people who have a fireplace feature inside the home forget how cozy and welcoming it can be. Those that choose to sell their home in warmer months lose this advantage. Stage the fireplace to help make it more inviting and appealing to buyers that see it.
Natural Light – Homes with natural light are great. While it’s a given to show it off in spring and fall, it’s beneficial to do so in winter, as well. With days getting shorter and dreary with bad weather, you’ll want to open up the windows and curtains to let light shine through. Don’t keep them closed. It will cause your home to appear dark and drab.
Christmas Decorations – Everyone loves to decorate for Christmas. If your home is particularly stunning around this time of year, listing it while it’s decorated is key. Buyers will love to see it and the décor will make them feel like they’re at home!
We hope these tips help you decide whether or not listing your home in winter is a better choice than any other time of the year! If you have questions or concerns, feel free to contact our North Hills Raleigh real estate team!
